Starting a business is an exciting journey, but the statistics paint a sobering picture: most start-ups struggle to survive. Across the globe, failure rates for start-ups range from 65% to as high as 90%. For example, in Africa, South Africa’s failure rate stands at a staggering 86%, while India leads in Asia with a 90% failure rate. Even in countries with strong economies, like the United States and the United Kingdom, around 70-80% of start-ups close their doors within their first few years.
So, why do so many start-ups fail? A good question when you consider the thousands of business books that can be purchased. Not forgetting the hundreds of workshops and seminars.

Ask yourself a question.
Are you trained to be self-employed and become an entrepreneur?
In most instances the answer is NO!
The core skills that you trained for and acquired whilst in employment probably make up less than 30% of the time required being self-employed. The other jobs needing to be done are jobs that you never knew existed or even thought about!
